CNC Machining China
Shenzhen factory · 220 machines · ±0.005 mm · DFM + price in 24 hours
CHX Metal is a CNC machining factory in Shenzhen, China, running 220 machines: 100 machining centres, 50 CNC lathes and 70 Tsugami Swiss-type lathes. Tolerances hold to ±0.005 mm, monthly capacity is 5 million pieces, and a DFM review with price comes back in 24 hours.
Buying CNC machining in China is not a search problem any more — it is a filtering problem. There are thousands of factories quoting on the same drawing. This page explains what separates a factory that can hold a tolerance across a production run from one that hits it on the first article only, and what you should ask before you send a purchase order.
What “CNC machining China” actually covers
Buyers use the phrase for three different purchases, and they need different suppliers. Contract machining means you send a drawing and receive parts. Machine purchase means you are buying a CNC lathe or machining centre, which is a different industry entirely. Spare parts means you are repairing an existing machine. This page is about the first: custom parts made to your drawing.
That distinction matters because search results mix all three. If a supplier answers your turning enquiry with a price list for lathes, you are in the wrong place.
Capability you can verify, not just read
| Specification | Capability |
|---|---|
| Machining centres | 100 units — 3-axis, 3+2 and 5-axis, up to 1270 mm travel |
| CNC lathes | 50 units — bar and chuck work up to Ø300 mm |
| Swiss-type lathes | 70 Tsugami sliding-headstock units — bar Ø1–20 mm |
| Tolerance | ±0.005 mm on critical dimensions; tighter quoted case by case |
| Surface finish | Anodizing, electroplating, passivation, polishing — 3–7 days |
| Monthly capacity | 5 million pieces across the plant |
| Material certificates | EN 10204 3.1 on request, mill test reports on file |
| Inspection | 8 instruments including CMM, projector and roughness tester |
Every number above is a machine count or a measured limit, not a marketing claim. Ask any China supplier for the same table and compare line by line — the factory that can fill all eight rows without hedging is the one worth sampling.
How the quoting process works
Send a STEP, PDF or DXF drawing with material, tolerance, surface finish and annual volume. The DFM review comes back with the price: wall thickness that will deflect, features that need a second operation, and tolerances that cost more than they are worth. Prototypes ship in 3–7 days; production runs in 7–15 days after drawing approval.
No minimum order quantity. A single prototype and a 500,000-piece release run through the same process; the unit price steps down with volume rather than with a fixed MOQ gate.
The five questions that expose a weak supplier
- Which machine will run my part, and what is its bar capacity or travel? A vague answer means the work gets subcontracted.
- Who measures the first article, with what instrument, and do I get the record?
- What happens to the tolerance at piece 50,000 — is there in-process SPC or only a final inspection?
- Which certifications do you actually hold? Ours are ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015, nothing more.
- What is the agreed remedy if parts arrive out of tolerance?
Tariffs, freight and the landed cost question
For US and EU buyers the unit price is only part of the decision. Ask for the Incoterm in writing — FOB Shenzhen and DDP are different numbers and different risk. HS code, country of origin documentation and material certificates should travel with the shipment, because a customs query without them costs more than the freight saved.
We quote both FOB and DDP so the landed cost can be compared directly against a domestic quote, and we declare the machining process honestly rather than splitting the assembly to shift origin.
Why buyers consolidate turning and milling with one factory
A part that needs turning, then cross-drilling, then anodizing, loses a week per handoff and gains a tolerance stack per supplier. Running the turning cell, the machining centres and the finishing line under one roof keeps the datum in one process chain — which is why the Swiss cell is fitted with sub-spindles and live tooling: the back end of the part is finished in the same cycle.

Frequently asked questions
Do you supply parts or machines?
Parts only. We machine custom components to your drawing; we do not sell CNC machines or machine spare parts. If your enquiry is about buying a lathe, we are not the right supplier.
What is the minimum order quantity for CNC machining in China?
One piece. There is no MOQ gate, from a single prototype to a 500,000-piece release. Unit price drops with quantity because setup and programming amortise across the run.
How fast is a quote and a sample?
DFM feedback and price within 24 hours of receiving drawing, material, tolerance and volume. Samples run in 3 to 7 days; production in 7 to 15 days after approval; surface finishing adds 3 to 7 days.
Which certifications do you hold?
ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015. We do not claim AS9100, IATF 16949 or ISO 13485, and we do not supply complete CE- or UKCA-marked machines — only the machined components that go into them.
Can you ship DDP and provide material certificates?
Yes. We quote FOB Shenzhen or DDP, and supply EN 10204 3.1 material certificates with the shipment. NDA and IP protection terms are available before drawings are shared.
