When a design has to be in your hands this week, CHX Metal machines prototypes directly from your CAD file in Shenzhen. We run 220 CNC machines — turning, milling, 5-axis and Swiss-type — so a single part can be cut, finished and inspected in-house without waiting on subcontractors.
Why prototype on a CNC machine
A CNC prototype is made with the same process that will later make the production part. That means real material properties, real tolerances and no tooling cost — and a direct, repeatable path from one piece to a full production batch.
Unlike 3D-printed models, a machined prototype can be tested mechanically, anodized or plated, and used for fit checks and customer approval.
Materials and finishes for prototypes
- Aluminium 6061 / 7075, stainless 303 / 304 / 316, carbon and free-cutting steel
- Brass C3604, titanium TC4, PEEK and other engineering plastics
- Tolerance ±0.005mm, verified on a CMM
- In-house finishing: anodizing, zinc / nickel plating, passivation, black oxide, powder coating, laser marking
Prototype lead times
Most metal prototypes ship in 3–7 days from drawing approval; parts that need surface treatment add about 5–10 days. We reply with a quotation and DFM feedback — manufacturability notes, suggested tolerances and cost drivers — within 24 hours of receiving your files.

From prototype straight to production
The prototype and the production run are made in the same plant on the same machine park. That removes re-qualification, keeps the process repeatable, and lets us scale to as much as 5,000,000 PCS per month in a 5,000 m² facility with 100+ staff.
Every order ships with first-article inspection, CMM dimensional reports and, where required, EN 10204 3.1 material certificates.
Files and information we need
Send a 3D model (STEP, IGES, X_T) or 2D drawing (DXF, DWG, PDF) together with material, quantity, critical tolerances and finish. If your drawings are confidential, we sign a mutual NDA before we receive the files.
